REPAIR, MODERNIZATION AND SERVICE
AUTOCLAVES, DRY CABINETS AND DISTILLERS

Sterilization of instruments is a necessity in the medical field. Special equipment is used for this purpose. The most common are autoclaves. They can have different productivity, design, technical features.

There are many reasons for sterilization equipment malfunction, it could be:

Quality of used water, damaged lid seal, autoclave program failure, malfunction of electronic boards, failure of any of the many sensors of autoclave, worn or burnt out heating element of autoclave, faulty steam generator, burned out coil, faulty solenoid valve of autoclave, clogged filter, non-working water pump of autoclave, autoclave can give different errors. Therefore, maintenance and repair of the autoclave is carried out by the master taking into account its design, technical features.

PECULIARITIES OF AUTOCLAVE APPLICATION AND REPAIR

There are certain requirements for sterilization equipment. First of all, it must be serviceable and efficient. Autoclaves are used in areas where instrument sterility is of paramount importance. Accordingly, the condition of sterilization equipment must be carefully monitored.

Maintenance and repair of autoclave should be performed in a planned mode. During maintenance by specialized specialists the condition of sterilization equipment is assessed, hidden defects of parts are detected, operability of units is diagnosed. If necessary, worn elements are replaced with new ones. Scheduled repair and modernization of old “BC” and “GC” autoclaves for modern electronic autoclaves is also carried out.

AUTOCLAVE REPAIR IS A TASK FOR PROFESSIONALS.

Maintenance, modernization, restoration of sterilization equipment should be carried out by specialists of the appropriate profile. The work is carried out both at the site of use of the equipment in Tashkent or other city with the departure of the master, and in the service center.

Diagnostics, examination, repair of autoclave require special equipment and tools, certain knowledge and skills. It is necessary to entrust diagnostic and repair works to professionals.

What is an autoclave (steam sterilizer)?

The autoclave destroys all pathogens and germs by heat and pressure.
Autoclave refers to a hermetically sealed chamber for heat treatment of materials at elevated temperature and pressure. High steam temperatures guarantee reliable sterilization of medical instruments, textiles and other medical equipment. Steam sterilization is usually performed at temperatures above 120 degrees Celsius. Pre-vacuuming (pre-vacuuming) is performed repeatedly. Air is evacuated from the sterilizer chamber, which guarantees reliable decontamination of hollow instruments with complex shapes such as turbine handpieces, contra-angle and straight handpieces, surgical instruments, handles and dental instruments and aspiration cannulas.

Description of the complete autoclave steam sterilization cycle:

According to international regulations, it is recommended to sterilize cleaned and disinfected instruments in packaged and sealed containers. The preferred method of sterilization is saturated steam. Packing instruments in special bags (kraft bags) or containers eliminates their re-infection at the end of the sterilization cycle. Disposable chemical indicators BS-I-“PHARMA-TEST” and BS-T-“PHARMA-TEST” are used to monitor sterilization control

  1. Pre-preparation phase: Pre-preparation includes steam treatment and vacuuming. During vacuuming, all air is evacuated from the sterilization chamber and the interior cavities of the hollow instruments.
  2. Heating phase: the constant steam supply creates increased pressure and temperatures in the sterilization chamber.
  3. Sterilization phase: the load is kept at temperatures above 120 °C for a long time.
  4. Pressure release phase: after the sterilization time has elapsed, the pressure in the sterilization chamber is released.
  5. Drying phase: Depending on the chosen sterilization method, instruments and packages are dried either in vacuum or under increased pressure.
  6. Purge: after the end of the sterilization program, the autoclaves are purged. Accordingly, the pressure in the chamber is set to atmospheric pressure. The steam sterilizer hatch can then be opened and the treated instruments can be removed.

Autoclave (steam sterilizer) loading rules

When placing sterilization stacks, boxes (bixes) in the sterilization chamber should be guided by the rules:

-sterilization boxes (bixes) are placed in the sterilization chamber perpendicular to the direction of steam flow in the chamber;

- near the back wall of the sterilization chamber are placed sterilization boxes (bixes) with a large number (size).

-distance from the door (lid) of the steam sterilizer to the sterilization box (bix) should be at least 15 cm.

-in accordance with MU No. 287/113 of 30.12.98, the loading rate of sterilization boxes (stacks) for steam sterilizers that do not have vacuumization at the stage of “purging” should be reduced by 3 times the loading rate.
